Our progress in one area has been slow, almost frustrating. The proposition is simple, direct, and beneficial. Several vocal supporters are close to the decision maker. The business case, customer benefits and tangible cost savings, is black and white. Everything has been in place except for the signature of agreement.
The signature has landed! The agreement is in place! As of yesterday, the mark we have been looking and waiting for is real. There will be many more to come but this closes the loop on what is needed for the first complete step forward. As I think about the past and the moment that is now, the following whispers gently keeping me in the present.
Patience is a good thing. It often appears to travel with frustration, anxiety, and uncertainty. I do not think they are close to each other. Quite the opposite! The three negative amigos are manifestations of the dark side of my heart. When held in check and patience works in combination with my greatest values, good thing will come when the timing is right.
Mini celebrations are appropriate – always! In the rush to what comes next, it is important to cheer, to congratulate each other, and to reflect. A psalmist left us with a shout – “The hand of God is raised in victory! The hand of God has turned the tide!”” (Psalm 118.16) This shout out reminds me to call others to celebration once the labor of the work to get us to this mark is done.
Each step forward takes everyone closer to the dream. A year ago, I was hopeful. I was full of fears, uncertainty, and doubts. There was so much work to be done! Much of that list has been completed and leveraged to get us to where we are.
Now that this step is behind me, I can see so much more that remains. The size the of the mountain is not what I fear, it is mustering the courage to take steps toward the goal. Today is an opportunity to take one such step.
