“Tremble, Earth! You’re in the Lord’s presence!” Psalm 114.7
We stroll along the Vienna streets late at night, talking about life, taking in the sights. After spending a few minutes in the central cathedral our conversation drifted to religion, institutions, and God. The bluntness of their honest observations caught me off guard.
“I have never found a link between institutional religion and God.” I silently agreed but did not know quite how to respond.
“I lost confidence in the story of God and the Bible when a teacher tried to explain the story of the flood at school when I was eight years old. I found the story far fetched and lost interest.”
“Well, I do not think tackling the Noah story is the place to start. Do you want to seek God?”
“Yes, I am interested.”
Over dinner, the conversation came back to miracles and God touch. I told one story about God’s touch through me to a little child and found myself in speechless in continuing.
God is all around us. God is touching your life and mine in many different ways. I know this, yet I walk through life with a blind mind to God’s touch. God is reaching out to us, working His love and grace into the fabric of our lives, nurturing our souls, while we try to run away.
I am scared. God’s is awesome, powerful, and committed to doing everything possible to win my choice. As I look around, I am in trouble! God is here, right now, and I am hesitating! It is good to tremble, but action is what God and I both want! It is time to commit, leap off the bridge into His will, and let it all hang out! What more do I need to decide?
God love is clear. I see it all around me.
God commitment is evident, assuming I am willing to examine the evidence.
God grace is overwhelming, unless I try to do it myself.
It is time to stop, quit our running, and let God’s arms wrap around us!
