“God rules: there’s something to shout over! On the double, mainlands and islands – celebrate!” Psalm 97.1
I know England is a land of rain and wind; all this green comes from a lot of water and I cannot find many irrigation systems. I understood that there were going to be days on end without sun. So far, I have not found this England!
Today is another day in paradise! Crisp dawn, bright sunshine and hazy blue skies with just a trace of wind. If I did not know better I would be absolutely sure I was in the middle of a Northern California spring; but is it still England. On days like today, I know what life is all about. Cherry and I teamed up for a breakfast extrodinaire (pancakes with fresh raspberries). We searched the Bible together looking for the foundations to a couple favorite songs. Now the kids laughing and playing outside, Cherry working on lunch for friends on the way while I enjoy listening to what God is saying for a dear friend. Is there more to life?
Perhaps I am discovering what the Psalmist knew centuries ago – God rules and this is great! God’s care and grace played out are awesome experiences for everyone involved. It is just like sunlight – warming in ways beyond imagination, encouraging in ways you do not understand, and one of the healthiest things possible! On the other hand, maybe it is just like the bonsai. Bonsai encourage one when takes the time to listen. Bonsai soothe when pain abounds while creating puzzles for your mind when everything is going great.
Everything in God’s creation sings praises. It is as if the Holy Spirit is using everything and anything as tools of grace, love, and acceptance. All around us, the song is underway. We have a chance to join in the anthem; I wonder why I often decline the opportunity.
Today I am a chorus member! Today I sing praises. I know my friends are in his care, I know he loves them as much as I do!
