“God, you smiled on your great earth!” Psalm 85.1
Everywhere I turn, I find glimpses of God. There is the spreading evergreen in the center of the courtyard of Victoria Gate where we live. It includes waking up to the sound of birds doing their business in the early morning. Also the sense of awe in the creative acts of man as he discovers the God given power within. Silence, music, and noise; God is in them all! Once you start looking, God is hard to miss.
The pictured is somewhat muddy; I guess that is the price we pay for the centuries of doing our own thing. Trees fight disease and birds struggle to survive. Man is so creative that he believes he is a god. After a while even the good things begin to look like something else. Silence is boredom, music is a matter of taste and should only be listened to so loud, and noise is just that, noise. Now when they look, God is confusing to many. The picture takes on a color and tone of its own, the original intent and God’s beauty lost to all except the diligent seeker.
When I seek God, I find him everywhere. As I open myself to listening, I hear God working his side. When I wash my eyes, I see he hands touching people’s lives and taking on the role of servant and friend. My ability to feel his touch relates to the thickness of my personal armor. In spite of my efforts to block God, God is everywhere I look, reaching out to individuals with love, grace, and acceptance.
Yes, there is pain; God surrounds this with his people who help bear the burden.
Yes, there is injustice; God gives us gifts of mercy when we only deserve justice.
Yes, there are trials; God provides peace to survive and eternal life to all.
Yes, there is sickness; God loves us where we are and will bridge the abyss between us.
Yes, there is hope; God surrounds each of us!
God loves you.
