“Enjoy God, cheer when you see him!” Psalm 68.4
Sometimes a moment comes you know you will never see again; at least that is what you believe at the time. I cannot remember a bad moment that did not come back at least once, but the best ones are often one-time events. I think the training sessions I just completed with my one of these events. I hope that there are many moments like this to come, but I fear that we have hit the peak and will need to work hard to stay there.
The goal of the training session was to learn about yourself, your preferred way of working with people, and your style of facing life. Activities included information sharing and several group exercises. We faced the normal difficulties and, in the end, emerged feeling better about the future and ourselves.
As I listened and watched people in action, I wondered what my experience would have been like if everyone knew God. The sense of loss because they did not appear to know God weighed on my heart. The difficulty grew as I imagined the traditional means of introducing God. I struggled to identify one traditional method that would get people excited about God. I explored the options and came up dry every time! Then David’s journey came to mind. David’s life changed many lives including my own. Someone will be God’s voice, hand, eye, or ear to reach out and touch their lives. Someone will introduce God to them and they will know.
What will it be like? In a single word, awesome!
Why will it be that way? Knowing God changes everything, especially when you let him touch you.
In the end, we cheered! We cheered Jeremy the facilitator for his leadership and insight. We cheered Andi and her team for all the work in making the session possible. We cheered ourselves for being open to new experiences. We knew our time together was special, so we clapped and cheered.
God invites us freely into his presence. Take the offer!
