Life has many paradoxes. I passionately believe in team, teamwork, and community. For me, life begins here. Outside of it, nothing makes sense. As adamantly as I hold on to this cherished, treasured, and valued belief, I also know that I am rewarded individually. My work maybe recognized in context of what “we” do. Yet, each individual receives a unique recognition for what occurs. Even if the recognition is precisely the same, the meaning and context in each person's life makes it uniquely different.
As I walk and look at God's response to the human condition, I find that God takes a very different approach. Everyone receives the same response from God, regardless of his or her behavior. Everyone has the same opportunity with the dawn to respond to God's gifts. Everyone has the freedom to choose self versus community, mercy versus justice, and compassion versus judgment. It is extraordinary! To some it is frustrating. To me they miss the greater point.
Even as God responds to all in the same way, this response, love, has may different shapes and sizes. When one is a God seeker, the “God-of-the-Angel-Armies said, “They're mine, all mine. They'll get special treatment when I go into action. I treat them with the same consideration and kindness that parents give the child who honors them. Once more you'll see the difference it makes between being a person who does the right thing and one who doesn't, between serving God and not serving him.”” (Malachi 3.17, 18)
This response is full of compassion, mercy, and ultimate love, yet it is different. That is the benefit of being on God's team. The trigger is not that we are perfect, just that we seek. The difference is not that we always win, just that we walk humbly in respect and awe. The difference is not in our answers but in our questions.
God's team knows no boundaries or limitations. The only qualification is that one is a seeker of God. Everything is waiting – peace, purpose, and mission. The invitation comes with the dawn.
