The evidence is there is one cares to look. When you examine the impact that different lives have made on society and to themselves over time you can and will see that “it pays to take life seriously; things work out when you trust in God.” (Proverbs 16.20) I do acknowledge that God works with in unusual circumstances and with people we do not feel could possibly be qualified as candidates. However the evidence is consistent. When God is in you life, through principles, methods, values, activities, or priorities something happens that is mysterious, magical, and life changing.
The range of those touched is incredible. I have met a head-hunting pagan that discovered the Divine along with hope, love, and compassion. The meeting changed everything that he knew in life. The last person that he threatened to kill (and eat?) is now one of his closest friends! A potential life of violence is now looked back on through the memories filled with kindness, expectations, and dreams.
As I sit and discuss the future with a former child terrorist who at the age of fourteen only knew how to kill, I find myself talking in terms of giving mercy, sharing grace, and seeking opportunities to nurture even more who currently do not know God.
In fact, everywhere I look those who follow the principles that are who God is have something that others search for and cannot find. They live what others thirst to experience. Their testimony is strong, sure, and consistent.
I know that I do not need to go to the corners of India to find this testimony. I have seen in on the streets of New York, in London’s small passages, and in cities all over the world. People who follow even, when they do not realize that they are doing so, the path of the Divine experience and enjoy a more full life than others. Their lives testify of what happens and it is something I desperately want to hold onto.
The conclusion is there; taste, see, and know that God is good.
