“Oh God! Your way is holy! No god is great like God!” Psalm 77.13
In the past 48 hrs I watched God at work. A friend, sicker that I initially realized, is on the mend; a friend with a lost soul in walking with God; two friends joined with God in a life long commitment of marriage. In each situation, God worked and is working miracles. Every case is an example of what God can and will do in people’s lives. The sick friend is going through a personal hell, yet God’s presence is making it easier as God changes the heart in the experience. The lost friend now sees hope where before I heard about pessimism and despair. Two of God’s children have found his touch through each other. Two are now less and more because of the experience and commitment. The miracles are quiet works of God, however just as real and powerful.
The Psalmist had his doubts. He uses phrases like “wringing his hands, awake all night, will the Lord walk off and leave us for good?” I recognize those phrases as my own. Different circumstances, a different time, but the thought and theme were echoing over the years and distance. When things are tough, it is important to see what God has and continues to do. Follow the Psalmist model! The model is simple.
“I’ll go over what God has done, lay out on the table the ancient wonder; I’ll ponder all the things you’ve accomplished, and give a long, loving look at your acts.”
