Tropical Response

Individuals that have never lived in Singapore think there are no seasons.  With time passing, I have a different view.  Singapore may not have traditional seasons.  It does have different periods where a type of weather dominates.  Currently it is the hot season.  Visitors think Singapore is hot but the heat now is excessively overbearing, sticky, and one rarely finds a breeze. Yesterday was an example.

As the day progressed, I despaired that anything was going to change.  Even gray skies did not lower the temperate to make a difference.  Hiding indoors seemed to be the only solution.  The challenge was that I had meetings in several locations so avoiding the heat was not an option.  Appointment after appointment ran late, schedules overlapped, and an organized day was anything but.

I needed a break!  I needed the heat to subside, just a little.  At least one appointment needed to be rescheduled if anything was going to get on track.

“How about a call later instead of meeting?”

“Perfect.”

As I rushed home I could feel a shift within and without.  My heart was a bit lighter knowing that everything would work out as it should.  The air felt funny on the scooter ride home but in the rush I could not figure out what was different.  As I walked into the house there was a loud explosion and everything broke loose!  Thunder, lightening and more water than any drain could handle.  It was as if God “roared and the water ran away – your thunder crash put it to flight.” (Psalm 104.7)

I was dry, soon to be refreshed, and ready to head out to my next appointment.  Life has a way of working out if we give it space and focus on our response to it.  This day was as chaotic as any in recent memory.  My work went on late into the night.

As I look back, Life was here, trying to work with me.  The process repeats today.  My response is my contribution.  It’s time to make the world a better place.
