I freely admit that my attention span is short, at least it is not as long as I think it could and should be. I am interested in a wide range of subjects. They include cars to cooking, music to woodworking. I like variety and change. I like doing things on the fly. It is hard to stay in a set position!
Some suggest that this is a bad thing, but I am not so sure. Does it really matter if one likes to skate and enjoy football and cook as well as create new experiences through painting and graphic images? Is it critical that everyone chooses an area of focus, develop his or her individual set position, and excel at it? Is this a requirement for life success, or a formula for life long constraint?
Life changes. Life moves on in ways that one can never anticipate. Life is chaos, excitement, and challenges all rolled into a funny ball. Having a set position almost certainly guarantees that one will not be relevant to life as it twists and turns! So what and where is the answer?
In my attempt to excel at life, to get the most out of life, I find that there is one position I must hold at all costs. I my always keep my harmony with God; in tune, in focus, and in connection. I often think that the process is complex, difficult, and unachievable. In every decision, the choice is simple. Am I willing to take the next step in faith or not! I must take a decision or the act of being undecided is a decision in itself.
The choices before us are many and varied. What will we do when we wake up? Is there a difference in which channel or movie I watch? Will the amount of rest I get impact my ability to make a choice?
Before the road clutters up with uncertainties and unknowns, passionately seek God. “Tune your ears to the world of Wisdom; set your heart on a life of Understanding.” (Proverbs 2.2)
