I often wonder who or what is the power behind those who do well. Nobody does it alone. Even the rare individual that believes he or she is accomplishing something alone exists within a community. I find the community, be it the inspiration behind the scenes, the people who help make the dream a reality, and or those who are there to recognize and appreciate the result, is critical to the process. Visions need power. Visions need community. Visions need individuals. It is the combination of these elements, in one form or another, that allows the impossible to become real.
Yet the reality of your life and mine is the absence of power in our lives. We struggle to accomplish the basics of the day. We feel overwhelmed by the basics in life. Te mundane becomes a noose slowly blocking life’s hope from getting through.
In the midst of the chaos of everything going on around me, comes a gentle word. It is quiet, unassuming, and often missed. “I am God. I have called you to live right and well. I have taken responsibility for you, kept you safe. I have set you among my people to bind them to me, and provided you as a lighthouse to the nations, to make a start at bringing people into the open, into light: opening blind eyes, releasing prisoners from dungeons, emptying the dark prisons.” (Isaiah 42.6, 7)
We are part of a great community with God as the leader. We are children in an extraordinary family with Divine parents. We have the Spirit’s blessing and dedicated agents to help. All this and more exists without any action or our part.
Others have seen a vision of what you and I can be. At this point, it only becomes ours as we exercise our freedom. We can choose to accept God. We can recognize our role in the community. We can let the Spirit touch our lives.
I see great visions. I feel the power. I can and will choose to move forward today with God.
