At times I get wowed by the small stuff God does. The really difficult work goes on almost unnoticed and by my accounts under appreciated.
The “wow” comes when people are healed, special events occur, and wrecks that should happen do not. The really miracles comes as people’s lives and values begin to mirror God’s. It is like the angels take care of the first part, God is the key and sole source for the second. And there is more!
For those who wait with God, willing to do anything, something happens. I do not know how to describe it yet – perhaps in time God will give me the words. Something happens. “Those [of us] who trust God’s action in them find that God’s Spirit is in them – living and breathing God!” (Romans 8.5) There is something definitive, perceptible, and miraculous about this action and experience. The good news for anyone who has not yet received this experienced, is the collective promise by God and those who are realizing the miracle, is that the experience will come if one continues to seek, wait, and watch God.
Knowing God is something I have been seeking for my life even when I went in an opposite direction. The desire has and continues to grow from the nice-to-have of my childhood to the passionate-life-has-no-meaning-without need that I have currently. I want to know, experience, and live in relationship totally. I want this to consume every aspect of my being – taking charge, setting priorities and values, determining relationships. Anything that I need to do or God could do is on the table. I am asking God to do His work, overriding my will if necessary!
So now I wait and watch for God. He changes my life in ways I do not always understand. He works miracles in my life and others in ways that give them sight of his unconditional love. Miracles happen and I have peace and heaven today.
Everything I have can be yours. Saying “yes” to God is the first step I take everyday.
