“Your love and truth are all that keeps me together.” Psalm 40.11
Last night I danced, cried, and prayed in song with 1,500 people pursuing God. As we sang, I found myself wondering what keeps us together in life. There is too much going on all around us, to much drawing us to the side of being self centered. I looked around yesterday and saw age, economic, and national diversity. What is the common ingredient that binds? A conversation with a nurse riding on the tube home provided an early indicator of David’s observation.
“Do you like your job, most nurses don’t.”
“Yes, why not? I know God called me to it,” was her confident reply.
God’s love and truth is the missing element in every life. Recognizing this allows one to seek, never knowing is one of the greatest losses in life.
I find that living in God’s presence keeps one together, allows one to enjoy life to the fullest and realize their potential. The challenge in this world is to experience this presence! As easy as it might seem, we keep working to be in the presence on our terms and in our comfort zone. For me God continues to be just outside my comfort zone. This discovery of love and truth brings me to a place of quiet peace.
Living in God’s presence is the outcome of a seeker who pursues knowing God. God is always waiting, we just need to shed our baggage! Preconceptions are all around us; behavior, music, dress, the list goes on and on. As one drops their God-facts, things become clear. God is a God of unlimited breath and depth. Who are we to put boundaries on Him?
Knowing my own experience, I wonder about others and their quest. For me, it was the discovery of God’s childlike presence that became the key in following. In talking with others, I find the conversation always coming back to grace, acceptance, love, and truth. God’s character is key to every experience.
God love you, just let him hold you.
