Life often twists our thinking in ways we did not anticipate or prepare for. Once bent, it can be very difficult to comprehend just how warped our approach to life can be because of the crooked frame that we see life through. While many may see how life has turned our thinking inside out, only those that have earned our trust that have the right and ability to help us undo the knots in our lives and thoughts.
When I look at the way different individuals approach problems and opportunities, I find there is a wonderful uniqueness to it all. Yes, demographic patterns emerge, but they do not ultimately control. Yes, cultural patterns do influence, however there are as many exceptions to culture as there are affirmations. Yes, guilt can motivate and drive patterns, however guilt rarely endures. Every individual develops a personal perspective that life shapes differently.
At times, the perspective we hold helps us in our struggle with life day to day. On other occasions, our twisted thinking is tool in Evil's hand. The dance lies in knowing when to listen to our inner voices and when to challenge. I would like to suggest the following aids to the process.
First, seek the guiding hand of the God without that dwells within. There is a higher power defined by Truth, Love, and Hope. This guide always builds on community, restores compassion, and lives with respect.
Second, listen to the voice of those that have your best interests at heart. Trust is yours to give, use it wisely. History, especially when nobody was watching, often paints a true picture.
Third, examine the fruits in your own life. Healthy lifestyles, peace filled community, and dialogue with shared instruction are all positive leading indicators of a Divinely centric life.
God has chosen to dwell among and in you and I. Divinity is here to engage and glorify. There is a wonderful potential within your life and mine.
“The God of Abraham and Isaac and Jacob, the God of our ancestors, has glorified his Son Jesus.” (Acts 3.14)
