There are moments when I know the time for conversation is over. I may want to continue the conversation even when I know that the answer is action. In an awareness of the seasons of life, there comes a point when everything that needs to be said has been said. In this moment, the time for giving life to one’s heart and soul is the ask.
The coffee shop sign captured my awareness with clarity. If I had not heard the body language earlier, I could hear it now. My procrastination, excuses, and explanations for delaying had pushed the patience of those around me to a breaking point. Now was the time for action and movement. The only response asked for and required was to step forward with purpose and commitment.
Life offers us treasure troves of insights. Frankly, I have more evidence and proof than I could possibly consume. Divinity’s story and proposal to me are clear. I am not saying this is true for anyone else. I know many are searching for what has been revealed in my life. I am fortunate to know Divinity unconditionally loves me, that I am accepted as I am, and that I can, with the acceptance of the two gifts, be restored inside and out. At this stage, for me, “The more words that are spoken, the more smoke there is in the air. And who is any better off?” (Ecclesiastes 6.11)
Life calls us to action. Starting with the recognition that action takes many forms, including being still and silent, action is a forward event. It has not happened yet. My lack of action is a backwards-looking, focusing on the past, way of being in a moment. There is a time and place for reflection. This whisper is an example. It is for a time, not a life.
As I reach for a coffee this morning, I offer to others I meet on the journey today my time, support, and willingness to engage. I want to be a cup of coffee in your life and my own.
