Words with Emotions

Words delivered with emotions are simply powerful.  The particular vehicle a person uses – music, passion, or conviction, all bring a force that the listener usually cannot quite describe but always knows is there.  I listed to an artist last night, leading her band, telling the story.  As I reflect catch myself reflecting in the morning, I cannot think of any specific tune, word, or phrase she used.  All I remember is the power in her voice and the peace that consumed me as I listed and tried to capture whatever was going on in pictures.
 
Katy was amazing.  It was more than just her voice.  It was something more complex than the energy she poured into her piano or acoustic guitar playing.  As smooth and fantastic as her leadership of the band was and is, that wasn’t it.  There was something intangible going on.  Perhaps it was the combination of everything above combined with a shared passion and truth. 
 
Even now, as I try to capture for myself and share with you what happened, I know I will fall short.  You and I hold our lives in a unique way.  Even as we share much in common, every life and journey is unique.  If I fall back and try to describe my life and its fragility, perhaps invoking old metaphors, I will probably fail to convey the details.  “This body I inhabit is taken down and packed away like a camper's tent.  Like a weaver, I've rolled up the carpet of my life as God cuts me free of the loom and at day's end sweeps up the scraps and pieces.”  (Isaiah 38.12)  You need a sense of the emotion, engagement, and heart content of the journey.
 
Today is an opportunity to engage, fully and completely.  We can write words with emotions.  We can remember and be available to tell the stories.  It’s more than just words.  It is more than pictures or metaphors.  It is heart and Spirit coming together for a journey.  The magic comes in living and sharing all of it.
