“I give you all the credit, God – you got me out of that mess, you didn’t let my foes gloat.” Psalm 30.1
Watching God work, along with the results, is, I believe life changing. Too often, I want to believe the good things in life are the result of my efforts and decisions. God always seems to be one step ahead, working the angles.
Over the past two days, I have seen the enemy up close. I listened to his strategies and plans. I watched the battle plans emerge. I wish I could say I absolutely know how to defeat my main adversary, at this time I cannot. The enemy is I.
I keep trying to do God’s work. Even more frequently, I use tactics that reek of being self-centered with a total lack of faith. My words, actions, and decisions speak volumes and I do not like it!
Looking at how David dealt with this issue continues to give me a roadmap. David appeared to have the same challenge. David solved the challenge by continually coming back to God with a passionate plea for God to forgive and take charge. David appears to vent, confess, passionately demand God to act, open himself up to listening and watching, and then express thanks and adoration when he saw God work.
I can testify that David’s process works!
It is imperative that one be open and transparent with God. Tell him what you are feeling, tell him what is happening, and express your passionate dreams. At the same time, it is important to acknowledge where you disagree with God, where you made decisions, which in hindsight that took you away from God. Get it all out! Let God know what you expect him to do! Then you need to clear the decks and watch God work. God works differently than you expect it is critical that one keeps an extremely open mind to hear and see how he will work.
I am the enemy. Good news? God is the army and he wants you and me alive!
