Stuff is happenin!
Work is clicking in on many fronts, kids are actually talking with and to me, Cherry is taking things on, and I am actually stopping to listen to God. It is amazing what happens when you do this! I wish I could pass on the good stuff, bin the junk I created, and take the junk off your shoulders. I know this is nothing I can do directly, however, I have this key that continues to unlock the future for me that I can share.
When I examine the problems in my life – the work package, kids and the changes the continue to happen regardless of what I might think about them, and the challenges that Cherry confronts every day – I find two constants. First, my efforts, on a good day, usually make things worse. Second, things continue, no matter what I think of them, try to do to prevent them from occurring, or do in response to them after the fact. Life continues to speed up, get more complex, and stressful. Hope for the future is a scarce commodity. Faith in what I can do is shrinking rapidly into oblivion. Dark clouds are building everywhere I look.
When I watch God working in my life and yours, everything takes on a different color. It is stunning to see God daily action. He is working the angles, giving us a more clear picture of who he is should we choose to look. He is giving us words of advice carried through the emotions of grace, mercy, love, and acceptance. He is tackling our rough corners, bringing out the true polish and refinement that he knows he created in each of us. God is working.
The difference all happens when I spend my time looking, listening, and seeking God; I find God’s friendship. Then the dramatic happens. “Now that we have actually received this amazing friendship with God, we are no longer content to simple say it in plodding prose. We sing and shout our praises to God through Jesus, the Messiah!” (Romans 5.11)
