The morning reflection from the building on the opposite side of the waterway was a message. The more I studied it, the more certain I was that the reflections were characters. I was not sure if it was English, but the increasing clarity was striking. As the sun continued to run its path, the writing began to get more jumbled until finally, it had disappeared.
Even in the dark edges of a new morning, I catch myself trying to decode the message. Something was there. Whatever it was, I struggled to see and hear my takeaways. In my absence of understanding, clear Whispers are taking me to my guide rails for the day ahead.
My reading of a situation is not always accurate. Care needs to be a good friend. Patience is a strong partner. Just because I think something is true, does not make it so. Sometimes writing on the water is simply a reflection. There are moments when Life and Divinity use it to send a message. My starting point includes my beliefs, understanding, and openness to new possibilities.
It is easier to narrow one view than it is to open it up. As I look at the photograph of the writing, I see myself focusing on how to interpret and understand it. At the time, all other meanings slowly faded into the shadows. What was left was a conviction and a distant call to action. I smile, realising that the calling was just noise and the conviction obsession. The challenge to past responses echoes as a reminder of the day ahead. “Do you have any business crossing people off the guest list or interfering with God’s welcome? If there are corrections to be made or manners to be learned, God can handle that without your help.” (Romans 14.4)
Enjoy and respond to the moment before it is past. The water’s light was interesting. I love the dance and the interaction on the water. There was more to see than what I saw. Today’s new light is a story one will write.
