Young Relationships

It is always fun to share in the beginnings of a relationship.  No matter what happens with time, in the beginning hope reigns eternal!  Everything is possible.  Nothing is too big to overwhelm.  It is as if life is there for the taking. 
We met her for the first time last night.  It was incredible!  New friends and colleagues enjoy an evening together.  Cares were left outside.  Fears, uncertainties, and doubts were kept beyond anyone's reach.  This was an evening for story telling, questions, and fun!  It was an incredible time of being introduced to someone new.  We came caring about one and left richer for knowing two.  I found myself hoping for the best that life could give them in the future.
I know the path ahead will not always be smooth and uncluttered.  Life is never that way, for anyone.  There is far too much pain haunting and stalking those determined to live.  There are far too many examples of the strong falling as easily as the weak.  Even those dedicated to compassion pass judgment.  Life can twist and turn anyone at will.  What comes will pull and tear at every relationship.
All relationships go through this kind of stress, including the one we have with God.  I find myself fighting to reconnect with the God I love only to realize that I am reacting as if God is torn.  God's words bring a different reality to life.  “I am God-yes, I Am.  I haven't changed.  And because I haven't changed, you, the descendants of Jacob, haven't been destroyed.  You have a long history of ignoring my commands.  You haven't done a thing I've told you.  Return to me so I can return to you.”  (Malachi 3.6, 7)
Our relationship with God is always fresh, because God never changes.  Everyday is a new beginning with hope eternally young.  Everything is possible.  Nothing is too big, too difficult, or too bad for our God.  The challenge of our relationship with God rests within.  Will we see what God can see?  I hope so.
