Nurturing

Yesterday was one of the worst days I can remember, from the little that I do recall the day after. I niggling throat scratch of Wednesday night had mushroomed into a something incredibly ugly. My voice had long since disappeared, always fun when you are traveling to meet new people and negotiate contracts. My body clock quit early on, days seemed like night and night like the blackest of dark thunderstorms. The normal 98.6 thermostat felt like it was fluctuating between freezing and overheating, randomly. I felt terrible!

In these moments one needs to find someone willing to care, nurture, and just worry over them. For the traveler 5,000 miles from home this is a bit problematic. God always has a different plan.

“You can find me on Righteous Road – that's where I walk – at the intersection of Justice Avenue, handling out life to those who love me, filling their arms with life – armloads of life!” (Proverbs 8.20,21)

Yesterday Righteous Road was a loft on South Street where care and concern enveloped me. The fact that we were not going to make a special dinner was clearly secondary to making sure that I was ok. The rest, which is probably better described as passing out, was critical to getting me to my final resting stop last night. The icepacks, cold-strips, and Gatorade were all crucial pieces to the puzzle.

I know that the world is full of many unanswered situations where people suffer and often die. Where was God during the WW-II, Vietnam, Cambodia, Rwanda, and the schoolyards of violence and life destruction? I know God was there, tears of compassion flowing, pleading and begging someone to meet Him so He could fill their arms with life, and they in turn give it away to those in need.

Yesterday I was fortunate that someone took the armful of life God had given him and turned around to reach out to me. It is always good to experience God in action! Today, a little bit stronger, I am looking to give God's gift away.

Thanks God, thanks.
