It was a unique moment. I was being invited to reload, reset, and start fresh. It was an invitation to learn and grow with others committed to my success. While there were no preconditions or hidden traps, there was a process. If I wanted to be part of this journey, I would need to take the path outlined, follow my guide(s), and be open to learning and more. I could not recall ever being invited with an embedded refresh step in the process. Perhaps there was an instance when I was young. Whatever it was then, I was certain I have never had this type of invitation when I was mature enough to realize what I was being offered and what would be required along the way.
“Do you want this?”
“Yes. Fully, unequivocally, and without reservation, yes.”
As the journey begins I realize I have been here before. While the form is different, the function is eerily familiar. Mantras were rediscovered, embraced again, and now working again included the following.
The only thing of real value I ever bring is my heart and soul. Everything else will fade with time, losing the luster and whatever attraction that it has initially. One’s heart and soul are priceless.
One starts a process of learning as if one is blind. If one realizes that one is bringing a priceless gift, walking in darkness for a period of time (another way of describing being unconditionally open) in order to discover and grow is a reasonable entry fee.
Divinity always starts with who we are, not what we will become. When David declared that “God is my King from the very start; he works salvation in the womb of the earth,” (Psalm 74.12) he celebrated the fact that God has been working in his life since the very beginning of life itself.
As I look today, I realize that the process repeats itself as often as I am open to being refreshed. God love you and me without reservation. The invitation to grow was and is ours to choose.
Yes.
