With the day fading, the question of what comes next often involves a still, quiet place within my heart. I avoid the question by thinking of the rest that will come later and the potential of a fresh start in the morning. The question of my next few steps, including the night and the day ahead, sits patiently, waiting for my attention. As the light fades, I know it will haunt me until I take it seriously.
Focused intent is at the centre of what comes next. Where one’s eyes look is where one ends up. Look forward and upwards with hope. Look down and towards the past and risk stumbling. Living to the fullest comes with intent. Living with intentional care will create opportunities to bring one’s best self into the relationships one has with others.
Faith is required to move towards. As much as I would like to have it, I know certainty is a false god. Every step involves trust. Trust in others, in oneself, and Divinity. When combined, the elements create a window for success. One can never be absolutely sure, so faith steps in to fill the gap. Experience reminds me of the courage shared by my willingness to act in faith. It is a modern and fresh reimagination of an old observation; “By an act of faith, Abel brought a better sacrifice to God than Cain. It was what he believed, not what he brought, that made the difference. That’s what God noticed and approved as righteous. After all these centuries, that belief continues to catch our notice.” (Hebrews 11.4)
When trust actions are combined with awareness, the willingness to learn, and experience, one opens a personal door to growth. Each moment of growth is a memory that one can build on. The fantastic part of the story is that this cycle never ends; it is a lifelong process that only ends when we pass on and leave it to others to carry on our story.
The sunset invited me to rest and reconnect. Now, it’s time to get started.
