Yesterday was a day of choice! Decisions needed to be made and were. Tough issues were crying for air; they got it. People on all sides wanted to move forward and, by the end of the day, they were moving. As I flew home spending my eighth hour in twenty-four on a plane, I felt an overwhelming sense of coming through a door to a new day.
Today is action day! Now is the time we can close on the new approach and take our first steps together. Will we succeed? There is a reasonable, probably highly likely, chance that we will not, however it is clearly worth the try! Steps, taking on the new view as we move together, is important and a group changing experience.
Each of us carries a lot of baggage. Poor choices of long ago continue to bubble up and strike us from the blind side. Pressures of the moment block our ability to live out our priorities. Friends and family expect us to extend friendship and love while our souls are crying out for compassion. Any of these things individually could paralyze you or me, but we cannot let that happen. Today is a day of choice.
I keep finding the past, especially where others inflicted wrongs, haunting. Cherry was cleaning out her emails and a flood of old memories rushed the banks. Her pain, frustration, and annoyance was clear; I only hope I held mine in check until I was able to release them in faith to God again. Is there a lesson on how we can deal with the past? Paul gives us a great out. “Stay alert like this, and before you know it the God of peace will come down on Satan with both feet, stomping him into the dirt. Enjoy the best of Jesus!” (Romans 16.20)
Today is action day. We have a choice; move forward with God or continue to try it on our own, alone. Accept God's gift of self-value, acceptance, and love to live or seek something within. It is action time!
