I had reached the edge of the sidewalk and faced a decision. I was unsure which step was best, at least for me — the right or the left, the black or white, the go-forward or retreat. Life seems to enjoy reminding me that I struggle to know what is best for my heart and soul. In this light, I have no idea what is best for anyone else! I stood at the point of a decision and listened to the reminders that shape my day ahead.
Everyone can be successful in life. As much as my life feels like a choice with only one winner, Divinity reminds me I am part of a larger story that started long before my time. Even the old fathers could see this as one example stands out; “By an act of faith, Jacob on his deathbed blessed each of Joseph’s sons in turn, blessing them with God’s blessing, not his own – as he bowed worshipfully upon his staff.” (Hebrews 11.21). I stand blessed. I stand accepted and embraced by my Divine family and community. Today is an opportunity to step forward and share kindness and care without reservation.
Everyone can contribute. I witnessed a relationship where calm met energy, uncertainty met trust, and care met kindness. I watched hope in action and was, in turn, filled with hope. I do not know what the future will bring. In this uncertainty, I could see beyond the black and white to a field of colours filled with possibilities and opportunities. I am hopeful for them as well as myself. We can care and put this caring into action. Each act of kindness is a gift to the other. It is also food for one’s heart and soul. The mystery of giving something away and finding oneself fed and restored continues.
Every moment is a decision and doorway. I am excited because I am in charge! I can do what I believe is best for myself and others. Beyond being a freedom, it is a calling and point of accountability.
