The wall was inviting, bright, and filled with whimsical joy. It seemed readily apparent that the urban planners and architects were thinking of young children. From the kids running around the area and those actively posing in front of the wall, there was substantial evidence that the design was reaching its target audience. I watched, took pictures of my grandson, and considered the time and place that went into the planning.
Today’s dawn recreates this wall, at least in terms of engaging my heart and soul. As I consider the evolving colours, the way the light dances off the buildings, and the invitation to engage, I see myself as one who has come to play. It is my opportunity to make a difference. It is a place where I can engage with others. It is a time when my words and actions can help those around me.
In this moment, I can bring child-like energy and openness. There is no predetermined script. I am free to move. I can use my voice to my heart’s content! Anything is possible when I am standing out in the open. I have the freedom within me to run and play. I can be alone or engaged. I can be as loud as I want with no inside-voice boundaries. It is a safe place to be, especially when I follow the lead of those before me.
This moment has a time and place. For me, this moment is a time of reflective listening to what Divinity wants to share. I know if I show up, Divinity will as well. I continue to experience this time and place as a coming apart for restoring and healing my heart and soul. I know compassion will be in this space. I have faith that I will be accepted as I am. In the silence, the reminders across the centuries still echo: “A right time to kill and another to heal, a right time to destroy and another to construct.” (Ecclesiastes 3.3)
With today’s preparation, it is time to step out into Life’s playground.
