Missions always have an inner intent. Objectives tell a story, but only hint at the true purpose. People engaged, but do they understanding the meaning? The answer only comes with time as their choices, actions, and decisions indicate their true values and priorities. Each point on its own relates to the other, however in combination a picture emerges which indicates that we are all on some kind of covert mission. Just what it is, is told by our body language. We may not even know we have begun the mission, yet others are already picking up the early threads and forming their judgments of our intent.
I find myself wanting to believe that others only the signals I intend to give. As I watch others I find myself looking in a mirror realizing how often our bodies clearly indicate what our hearts try to hide. We witness to our values. We testify to our priorities. We indicate our message, even when we are doing everything in our power to hide the truth. The true covertness of our journey is in the truthfulness embedded within each moment. For those who care to pay attention a story is being revealed. Even for those who could care less, their subconscious is picking up the real story line and feeling the general sense of what is going on to the mind of the observer.
It has taken a long time for me to come to terms with this. Candidly, I’m still not sure the full transparency of it all has become clear. I do realize Divinity’s hand in what exists. When Jesus said that “You didn't choose me, remember; I chose you, and put you in the world to bear fruit, fruit that won't spoil. As fruit bearers, whatever you ask the Father in relation to me, he gives you.” (John 15.16) He wasn’t kidding. He picked you and me, even before we realized what had happened. We do have the right to reject the invitation to play on Divinity’s side. Whatever our choice is, the story will be told.
