Criteria

Life comes with some interesting twists.  Among the more neglected ones is the hidden connection between actions true belief.  We may deny it but it is our choices played out through decisions and actions which define our souls.  It is ironic how many are hooked to the na?ve belief that words define our hearts.  While words influence the future and at times express our aspirations, they do not accurately reflect what is inside.
 
You see the contradictions being played out in British politics.  One party represents their authenticity, purpose, and integrity.  On closer investigation one finds a record filled with falsehoods, deceit, and exploitation for personal gain.  The two themes are obviously completely and totally at odds with each other.  If one follows the popular analysis and logic, there is no need to have a connection.  I disagree! 
 
I wonder if our own confusion about what is real and imagined has moved into a reality that is ultimately not sustainable.  There is a direct connection, real, physical, and relationship based, between our values and priorities, heart and soul, and the choices we make in life.  If you believe in the principle of fairness then exploiting others is never the answer.  If you believe in love then abuse is intolerable.  If you believe in unconditional acceptance then bigotry has no place. 
 
Success isn’t defined by just avoiding the negative.  Living, real, full, and complete living involves being intentional in our choices.  Jesus noted that “you are my friends when you do the things I command you.”  (John 15.14)  As one looks at the commands, unconditional love, open and complete acceptance, and ever flowing mercy, one find the keys to winning in life.
 
With the dawn we have a fresh opportunity to write a new story.  Too often I find myself living in yesterday, yet it is this moment which beckons.  You and I have slates which are constantly being rewritten.  We are here to live and tell our story.  Others are involved.  Lives hang in the balance, including our own.  Given all this, what will it be?
