As the sunset faded, my view through the palms created a reflective moment of choice. Multiple lessons drifted through my thinking with the three palms, quiet-for-now ocean, and soothing breezes. It was an invitation to use every experience for learning, growing, and ultimately good. The painful events of the past and trailing angst faded with the arrival of hope and a sense of purpose.
Every individual is blessed. In a world with games and only one winner, it is easy to apply the thinking to one’s life. My experience with care, kindness, and love is just the opposite. Everyone can experience these elements of Divinity. Events and unintended outcomes show how hard life can hit. They can tear one’s heart and soul. My amazement is not at the destruction evil brings; it is in the resilience and courage of individuals responding to life, their positive impact, and how this is gifted to others as life relentlessly continues.
Everyone has a choice. I choose who I bless. I decide who benefits from the gifts I receive. How I exercise my freedom comes with consequences that touch the lives around me. There is a renewed sense of purpose when I follow Divinity’s lead and approach each moment openly and without reservation. Unconditional acceptance continues with a genuine embrace that affirms that s/he belongs. This model applies to all kinds of situations. We all come with history and biases. These do not need to define us. I look to examples from the generations before me when there is a choice. “By an act of faith, Isaac reached into the future as he blessed Jacob and Esau.” (Hebrews 11.20)
When a chapter closes, a new one begins. Each dawn is an opportunity to reconnect and recommit. When trapped by a crisis-du-jour, I hear a call to stillness and silence. I trust the promise that Divinity has found her home there. I know she is working to restore the damage left by events and poor decisions. She is also recreating within me a desire to bring hope to my community.
