Sometimes, well most of the time, we are our own worst enemy. It is a puzzling process. Intuitively one might want to think we would be our strongest supporter. In the day to day walk we are on, the reality of “who” is hard on us is painfully clear, yet most of the time I find myself in complete denial. The enemy must be out there, somewhere! The adversaries would change their positions if only they “knew” their enemy. Everything can and should work in peace and harmony. If only we would get along.
The problem with the questions and logic rests in a simple observation. We are missing the real and true heart of the problem. We think the problem lies outside and it doesn’t. We believe others are responsible for our headaches and, most of the time, they are not. We want to make others accountable for our personal hell when the responsibility and accountability rests in a single spot.
For those brave enough to confront the reality you and I live in there is a recurring conversation which plays out with minor variations in our mind. It is as if we are at war with ourselves. We fight, viciously, relentlessly, and mercilessly, with words along the following lines. “Why bother even trying to do anything with you when you just keep to your bullheaded ways? You keep beating your heads against brick walls. everything within you protests against you.” (Isaiah 1.5)
Today I find myself reflecting on two key parts of the answer.
First, I may be part of the problem, yet I am always part of the solution. You and I control our destinies! We decide. We have freedom within. There is no person, circumstance, or situation which “controls” our choice. Influence yes, control no.
Second, you are priceless in your current state. You are not the enemy. You have the solution. You are not the cause. You hold the answer. You are not the reason. You are the vessel of hope.
These may be my words but they reflect Divinity’s thoughts.
