The elevator arrived to take me up a floor to where my car was parked. I realised how thankful I was for the choice and directions. I could have gone around the building. It would have taken longer, and I would have arrived in a sweat. I did not find a stairway in the building that I could use. The green light reminded me that I had a choice. It was my best decision.
Looking forward to today and the choices ahead, I find myself listening to whispers reminding me of my guiding principles. Whatever happens, I know I will have opportunities to learn and grow, so now is the time to take advantage of the green lights that Life is offering me.
Decisions are best framed by principles and methods. When I ground myself in community, seeing everyone and everything through the lens of compassion, kindness, and care, I find myself facing the best choices. This is my answer to the question, “What advantage has a sage over a fool, or over some poor wretch who barely gets by?” (Ecclesiastes 6.8). As I begin to see myself with compassion, kindness, and care, responding with love and discipline, my experience creates a desire and passion to gift others with the same. I am open to what works, internally and outside.
The value of knowledge lies in how I use it. With the choice and awareness of the consequences, I took the best course. I arrived energised, excited, and ready for the next step. In understanding that I am part of a larger story, I use this awareness to look beyond myself. Understanding that compassion begins within, I start with a willingness to forgive myself. In accepting this gift, I take it to the next level by gifting others with a forgiveness that wraps them in the coat of growth, learning, and passing this same gift on to others.
Today arrives with a green light. I could retreat, hesitate, and do little with what I know. I choose to step forward, caring to make a difference.
