Knowledge is an animal in its own right. Once it is given birth anything and everything can and will happen. Without it, things go on as if facts, figures, history, experience, and relationships do not matter. The wonderful thing about this animal is the growth and maturity it will give those around it in time.
Years ago London was a place the girls could visit, at best that was all. Carli and Whitney might have been able to find it on the map. I am sure the process would have been filled with laughter (hiding embarrassment), giggles (masking uncertainty), and lots of movement (trying to buy more time). Whatever they might have said it would have been, at best, simple facts from a book, and even better, pure imaginary fiction!
Today it was a different story. As we walked the City, enjoying tourist spots, historical landmarks, and great food, the girls reveled in the place they know as home. Everything added to the charm and library of memories. A few photos will always trigger stories and a wealth of emotions, yet I know there is much more to the recall. They have knowledge. It will grow, continue to adapt, and nurture their steps for years to come.
Great insights are like that. As our experiences give birth to knowledge the combination that they become begins a nurturing process that can sustain and help us mature and grow. We can be far more in the future than we are if we are open to what is present in this moment. Someone years ago noted that he had “have made your [Divinity’s] very being known to them [family]—who you are and what you do—and continue to make it known, so that your love for me might be in them exactly as I am in them.” (John 17.26)
Today is an opportunity to give birth to knowledge. We can expand and change the very foundation of what it means to be alive! My wish for you is this; may your child be beautiful, awesome, and pure wonder.
