I enjoy looking back on a workout when it is done and I am relaxing in the steam room. There is something magical in being able to see with hindsight, the barriers one broke through, challenges that were met, and how impossible now is something that has been achieved. While training sessions are different in unique ways, there are threads binding them together.
One can do more than one imagines. We are capable of more than we think possible. Our limits are rarely the ultimate boundary. Energy reserves and ability to endure far exceed the points we have in our minds.
Until our actions make the impossible possible, the goal remains just beyond our reach. Dreams are filled with moments that are realistically impossible. Yet, but, and until we push ourselves beyond our limits, we will never know how far we can go.
Others can see our potential better than we can see it ourselves. Our parents believed in us. Friends believe in us. Organizations have expressed their confidence and believe in us. Life likes to remind me that the belief in others has given me the push necessary to go farther than I ever imagined possible.
As I wake to a new day, anticipating an intense workout session, I realize that the belief others have in me is critical. I find myself repeating David’s acknowledgement; “You keep me going when times are tough – my bedrock, God, since my childhood.” (Psalm 71.5)
Today is an opportunity to do the stuff of living. Action, reaching for me, and the impossible are on today’s agenda! We will remind others as well as ourselves of our priorities and values. We will reset the limits we place on ourselves. We can do something to make the world a better place.
Everything is possible, especially as we open ourselves up to the help that is available. Starting with God and on through to the people we meet during the course of the day, helping hands are being extended to us. Seeing, accepting, and embracing help is a step to More.
