“God turns life around. Turned-around Jacob skips rope, turned-around Israel sings laughter.” Psalm 53.6
Every day at work I watch 150 people on the verge of a party. I can see the day the party will come. I note their change in outlook, a difference in how individuals see themselves, the energy, and excitement spreading across the floor. In many ways the change is very exciting, in others I find myself like a parent watching a child grow at fast-forward speed.
Do they have any idea of what is happening? Do they know why? What happens when the party begins? Will the party last?
I think there is an inkling of the changes to the group. I am sure that they do not understand why everything is happening, why the change began, or where it is leading. The sense of accomplishment, of feeling good about themselves, of being the best, and most of all of hope drives them towards the future. I believe that their foundation of hope are based on good, selfless motives and, consequently, the change will last. The party can go on for a long time!
God promises to do the same in your life and mine. He is confident in us because he knows the power of grace, love, and acceptance. He risked all for us, readied a gift just for us and now he waits for the party to begin. The trigger is the same for all, a choice made in the quiet moment to give everything to God as a gift. This trigger creates expectancy and hope, energy and excitement, change and growth.
Are we willing to make this choice at the beginning of each day?
A decision of choice begins our workday. God’s primary work is filling us from the inside out to unleash his spirit of selfless love. God’s work is to get the party started in our lives! We can keep it going by saying yes with each turn of the skip rope!
Today is a new days with new opportunities. God is looking to party!
