“I'm planning my visit.” (Romans 15.23) Sure, I do not know the date; however, there are detailed plans regardless. A quick review of the most recent experiences on canvas, those incredible works in progress, and then a fun discussion about which Japanese restaurant we want to experience next. The plans would never progress further until we had reviewed our options on the size. The choice is plain. Either a giant sumo boat that could easily feed a family of four which would be easily and methodically devoured by two friends discussing and solving the problems of life or perhaps something a little more mundane!
As our day progresses, the discussion expands to include old friends in the neighborhood. We always talk about their challenges and what options exists. We never leave someone until we explore how we can help nurture his or her response.
Some days we focus on getting something done – a fresh batch of stretcher frames, getting a fresh supply of gesso, or new brushes. On other days, we wander the street – window shopping and talking about current events, fashion, trends, and sports. There is always things to do or some place to be or somewhere to kick back.
I am planning my visit with God. I do not know the date; however, I am certain that we will meet sooner than anyone could imagine. I have so many questions and things I want to do. Most of all I just want to be in the presence and experience the awesome reality of knowing that I am actually and finally together with the person I most passionately want to be with! Once I believe it, the questions will come.
“Where were your when…”
“What was the real story behind…”
“What could I have done differently the time…”
The list goes on and on. I know that I will be able to ask them one day because I trust God is true to His word. God is inviting you. Everything can be yours, no planning required! It just takes one step of faith…
