During the past two years I have rediscovered what it is to win on a big scale. In the midst of the current political chaos it is far to easy to forget the victories, but then a visit to Madras India and some messages to the team around the world and I am ready to take everyone on all over again! Winning is an incredible thing! Contagious, infectious, restoring, wonderful, and miraculous are words that only describe the beginning. The biggest thing that I notice is the confidence and resilience that winning infuses into one’s soul. With this infusion one finds themselves energized and ready to go into battle yet again, no matter what the odds!
Every battle has the darkness and quietness just before the action begins. Often this occurs behind the scenes, out of sight and frequently out of most people’s minds. Yet it is in these moments that I believe the combatants see their souls, priorities, and values with the most clarity.
I have had the privilege of leading a great team into battle. As I shift away from that role into another I can see much more clearly than I could in the heat of battle and I am proud. I am proud of everything that we achieved but more importantly I am proud of the way the team approached the challenge, marshaled their arms, and took on the enemy. There was nothing illicit, underhanded, or complex about the preparation and execution. We knew what we needed to do (well at least most of the time!), we had faith in the team’s ability and our own commitment, and we walked in faith.
God offers you and me a great opportunity. It’s Divinity’s cause and a noble challenge. Being part of the team brings a myriad difficulties and great personal sacrifices. But, you have the chance to really live! God has one the war but the battles are here to be fought. The call is clear.
“Announce this to the godless nations: Prepare for battle! Soldiers at attention! Present arms! Advance!” (Joel 3.9)
