“Sea storms are up, God, sea storms wild and roaring, sea storms with thunderous breakers.” Psalm 93.3
The drive to the shore passed through quaint villages. The drive reflected a life journey – potentially interesting with lots of twists and turns that can make anyone sick! After an hour plus wandering the backcountry, the people carrier was ready for the beach. Coming to out on the sunny beached cooled by light breezes was a refreshing blast of God’s goodness.
The waves were quiet yesterday. Looking out into the Atlantic you could see for eternity. The sun sparkled on the ripples while people laughed and ran through the water. The idyllic scene ran for miles along the south English shore. Sitting in the sun it was hard to imagine winter storms lashing the houses or long periods of fog and rain setting the scene for the moss growing on the housetops. Life is full of contrast and nothing is as it appears to be.
My worries melted in the morning sun. The warmed of God grace washed and soothed my soul. I do not believe that everything is now resolved rather I see hope. Sea storms are up, sea storms are wild and roaring with thunderous breakers, but my God is bigger, stronger, and greater than any sea. My God is always there for each person in his perspective and life. My God is very interested in being your God. God is working to give you the best, regardless of how well you know him! That is just the way he is.
Wandering the beach, reflecting on tidal pools, rocks, and shells brought a fresh sense of the awesome world in which we live. Storms are a part of life, though God will change this in the future. Difficulties are something we all face; God wants to take on this burden because he will relieve us totally in the new world. Pain is real and unfair in choosing its’ victims. God offers the balm of grace and hope, knowing He is the ultimate healer.
There is hope, God.
