Carli and Whitney are typical teenagers. I know that technically Whitney is still a preteen, but from all her actions, I think she qualifies! Both believe they know more than their parents, see themselves as victims of an adult conspiracy, and follow their favorite pop bands. It would be easy to dismiss their contribution to the family; however their daily surprises continue to shape my life.
It is almost as if they are a microcosm of life itself. Ups and downs that normally would flow through weeks and years come and go within a day. Unbridled excitement for things new, touching, or tearing flash into existence as lightening, leaving in their wake a hyperactive mind looking for the next challenge. Their piano playing carries with it a sense of compassion and caring far beyond their years. It is as if God has reached out and they have no idea of the hand they hold.
I find myself fighting battles that I cannot win, struggling against foes that have no real form, and grasping at hope while worrying about yesterday’s failure. Is it actually possible to live life in the grace of the moment? Does God get involved in the minute details of your life or mine?
Carli and Whitney testify to a resounding yes! God is here now, so live life to the full! God is present, so let the party begin. With the Divine we have each other, is there anything more we need?
Hope is in short supply; confidence is illusive even for the strong. Many are on a quest to discover God and then reveal how we are to interact with the Divine. The answer for many is here in the moment. God loves you! God loves me. God is trembling in excitement, anticipating the moment when you reach out to Him and discover that He is already in motion. Everything is an opportunity. Life is here, now. Grab God, hold on!
