It is always interesting, cynically fun, when a person sees what every multinational corporation is like for the first time. Up until that moment they have accepted the corporate rhetoric, naively believing that if someone says something that they actually mean it! One day they see the inner workings up close. In that moment their sight becomes clear, souls open, and they discover the truth. People are self centric, power corrupts, and truth is a scare commodity. The question then sits pregnant, waiting for the appropriate attention. What to do?
Listening to politicians publicly argue with newspapers are to what was and is the truth defies belief. Does either side expect us to believe that they were that simple, that well motivated, or that na?ve? Who is the fool if this happens? In the vicious circle that ensues everyone is the looser. Trust becomes increasingly lost. Honor is banished. Motives help suspect. The question again rests in the open, begging anyone to pick it up and deal with the unknown, what to do with the truth?
John saw things that defied his eyes. I shut my eyes and see the exchange with John’s nuances. “Astonished, I rubbed my eyes. I shook my head in wonder. The Angel said, “Does this surprise you?” (Revelation 17.7)
The question all of us have is what to do? Do we sit? Do we go on as if nothing has ever happened? Do we deny?
I find the puzzle one that everyone faces for a moment. Because the real question is the same one that each faces every morning. If I see what is really here, if I could know what was actually going on, inside, outside, with myself, with others, and with God then I would have exactly what I have now. You and I have a choice of responding to an invitation to walk with God or doing things all on our own. The rest is color, texture, and flavor. What to do? Make a choice! For me it is God and exercising compassion, mercy, and acceptance.
