Knowing

Does knowing the odds change your willingness to take on the impossible?  Would knowing that you might fail in love shape your decision to never engage in relationships?  Could knowing tomorrow’s outcome be something important?
 
I would like to suggest our simple formula for success contains one fatal flaw.  In everything the outcome is not a factor; it is all and only about process.  I am not suggesting the world agrees with me.  If you accept my formula I must warn you that financial reward is not a factor or outcome relevant to success.  Success is about intent, motivation, and striving.  Success is about teamwork, relationships, and nurture.  Success is about becoming a servant, child, and follower.  True leadership is the embodiment of these elements. 
 
I shared lunch with someone today who is incredibly successful.  I have no idea if there is wealth behind the name.  I don’t even know if the businesses and clients consider the firm in a positive light.  I do know what motivates the individuals involved.  In the midst of a world consumed by greed I find those driven by creativity and compassion.  What an awesome combination!  Inspiration is dripping and flowing everywhere.  Anything is possible.  Everything is within reach.  Opportunities abound.
 
I wish I knew how to capture and share my experience.  I know rejection lingers just beyond sight.  I understand the world may not be ready.  I can anticipate the skeptics and cynics.  Yet just because “this proved that the prophet Isaiah was right: God, who believed what we preached?  Who recognized God's arm, outstretched and ready to act?”  (John 12.38)  Does it mean that I choose to sit idly by?
 
Absolutely not!  Compassion, love, and unconditionally acceptance are the gifts that bring your life and mine into focus.  These are the elements giving relationships shape and body.  This is what sustains and nurtures our existence!  It may seem to others that those embracing the elements will never be successful but I know better.  There is a reward, today and tomorrow.  Today comes with peace.  Tomorrow is filled with awe.
